College Football Week 3: Preview

It's only Week 3 but the NCAA Football season is in full effect, with matchups already having tangible impacts on postseason hopes.

Here are three must watch games this Saturday - with picks for all three.

No. 2 Florida State at No. 10 Louisville Saturday, noon ET

Both Florida State and Louisville will do anything to get out of this week without a loss - luckily for the viewers, one has to lose and this level of competition could easily make this matchup the most exciting of all in Week 3. Florida St. earned a big win over Ole Miss already, and while both sides could still compete for a playoff spot with a loss this weekend, the win over the other will be more impactful, especially for Louisville.

All eyes will be on Louisville QB Lamar Jackson this weekend, already accounting for 1,015 yards and 13 TDs. Florida St. DE DeMarcus Walker will bother Jackson, though, but missing defensive back Derwin James will hurt the team's ability to cover Jackson.

Fun Fact: Florida State has gone 28-2 in their past 30 matchups within the ACC. Both losses came in 2015, against Clemson and Georgia Tech.

In sims, Jackson averages 2 TDS, 1 INT, 284 passing yards, along with 1 rush TD and 71 yards on the ground.

Best Bet: Louisville - on average - wins simulated matchups 33-31; the total combined score stays UNDER 67.5 in nearly 61 percent of simulations, a one-star (out of four) AccuScore hot trend.

Betting Trend: The total has gone UNDER in 5 of Florida State's last 5 games on the road.

No. 1 Alabama at No. 17 Mississippi Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET

QB Chad Kelly gets a chance to do something this Saturday very few ever have before - record back-to-back wins over Alabama in consecutive seasons. Ole Miss succeeded last season against the Crimson Tide thanks in large part to slow starts from Alabama's offense. The Rebels tend to start hot out of the gates, but struggle to maintain the same level of play.

Both Vegas odds and AccuScore simulation data give Ole Miss about a 20-to-23 percent chance of winning this matchup; AccuScore, in fact, has 'Bama favored by 14 points, three more than the -11 listed in Vegas at the time of publication.

Best Bet: The total combined score stays UNDER 54.5 in nearly 60 percent of simulations - a hot trend pick on this game.

Betting Trends
• The UNDER is 6-2 in the previous 8 games between Alabama and Ole Miss.
• The UNDER is 6-1 in Ole Miss’ last seven games within the SEC.

No. 4 Ohio State at No. 14 Oklahoma Saturday, 7:30 p.m. ET

This game is a must-watch more so because Oklahoma lost the opener against Houston. The Sooners need a lot of things to go right for them to still make the playoffs and one big opportunity is this weekend. A second loss before their Big 12 regular season schedule even begins will make it practically impossible to even think postseason.
