2016 Champions League Final Prediction

Prior to the start of the knockout rounds of the Champions League, AccuScore made two bold predictions:
1. The 2016 Champions League Final in Milan would be an all Spanish affair
2, Real Madrid would win the 2016 Champions League.

To clarify, AccuScore predicted a Barcelona versus Real Madrid El Clasico final, but the computer predicted that Real Madrid would win the Champions League final. Even with Barcelona and Bayern Munich still remaining in the competition at that stage, the computer's willingness to select Real Madrid to win the European crown speaks volumes in its belief in Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid. Including extra time and penalty kicks, Real Madrid is a 72.9% favorite to win the 2016 Champions League.

The information in the following infographic below is available for every for every soccer match in Europe's biggest league and even for the upcoming European Championships over the summer. Normally, one would have to be a member to receive this information, but we thought we'd share the final (Use Code: Champs for 30% off and join here!)

Clearly, AccuScore likes Real Madrid to win, and Ronaldo has plenty to do with that. CR7 is the most likely scorer with a 57.4% chance of scoring. Karim Benzema is projected for about a three to one shots to goal ratio, and that makes him the second most likely scorer on Saturday. For Atletico Madrid, the computer simply doesn't think it has enough fire power. Antoine Griezmann has a 31.8% chance of scoring, but the dropoff to Saul at 15% is dramatic. Fernando Torres has a 9.3% chance of scoring in the final.

At the bottom of the infographic are the meat and potatoes. The final score of 1.66 for Real Madrid and 0.92 for Atletico Madrid means that AccuScore is projecting a 2-1 victory for Real Madrid with a 1-1 game at 90 minutes the next most likely outcome. Considering 46.9% of simulations when over 2.0 goals, AccuScore is leaning to the over. However, there is no official pick on this game because neither the Over or the Under went over 50% in simulations.

Purely based on value, Real Madrid to win in 90 minutes is a good bet. Our computer converted the odds into a percentage for each possible outcome (win, loss and draw). The odds suggest that Real Madrid only has a 39.0% chance of winning in 90 minutes, while AccuScore thinks that number should be 53.2%. The draw is the second most likely outcome at 27%, but there is no value on that pick. Also, handicapping Real Madrid's victory makes sense since Los Blancos won by two or more goals 29.6% of the time.
