Accuscore Analysis

Liverpool – AS Roma

In short, it’s two heavy underdogs who’ve made it this far against all odds. Liverpool ousted Manchester City in the previous round, while Roma knocked out Barcelona. Safe to say, neither of these teams were expected to reach the final, yet one of them will. It’s going to be Liverpool’s offensive prowess against Roma’s persistent defending and efficient counter-attack. In simulations, Liverpool is banging in plenty of goals but Roma is not far behind. However, Liverpool is more likely to win both home and away and are clear favorites to make their way to Kiev with 64% probability.

Bayern München – Real Madrid

If the first pair is surprising, the second one is all but. The behemoths of European football take on each other in a replay of last season’s quarter-final. That time Real took the spoils in 2nd leg overtime triple-tally, progressing on 6-3 aggregate - and went on to win the whole thing. According to simulations, we can expect something similar this time around in an all even contest, with both teams likely to win their home games. While Bayern has secured their domestic title, Real has struggled in La Liga – but performed admirably in UCL when it matters, knocking out PSG and Juventus. Bayern had a tad easier route through Besiktas and Sevilla, and remain marginal underdogs for this one. It’s Real back to the finals with 55% probability, but with both teams likely to win their home games, it’ll be another exciting showdown until the bitter end.
